About Ironmongery Shop Online. Like most online suppliers of door handles, hinges, bathroom fittings and other ironmongery and hardware products, we have our roots as traditional 'bricks & mortar' ironmongers, entering this trade back in the early 1970's when saa door handles and steel hinges where the norm. The early 80's saw Georgian and Victorian brass come to the fore, especially with the housebuilders, where brass has recently been surpassed by polished chrome, satin chrome and now stainless steel. Indeed stainless steel door handles, hinges and kitchen handles have moved from being expensive, luxury products in the 70's and 80's to being within reach of most budgets which, when allied to stainless steel's durability, ease of maintenance and the vast range of designs offered, make it the first choice for many descerning homeowners, architects and interior designers. Realising this, we decided to focus on stainless steel door furniture and bathroom fittings for this website rather than offering the standard 'B&Q' type products offered elsewhere. Bobrick stainless steel washroom & bathroom fittings complemented this perfectly, as has our choice of disabled wc grab rails which are all manufactured from stainless steel to give a longer life than steel or plastic alternatives. To complete our range we added a small selection of brass, chrome and black iron Primalite door furniture for those clients who still want those materials.
